About Luis fernando Borjas

Origins and Early Steps
Luis Fernando Borjas Márquez was born on December 15, 1975, in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela. He is the son of musician Beto Borjas and Guadalupe Márquez. He grew up between Maracaibo and Cabimas, immersed from a young age in the musical environment of the “Los Borjas” family.
He began his artistic journey in gaita groups such as Makuare, Ecos del Zulia, and Aguacero, standing out as a gaita soloist with the song Madre de Tradición by Neguito Borjas.

Career with Guaco
In 1994, he joined the group Gran Coquivacoa, and in 1995 he made a major leap by joining the supergroup Guaco, where he remained for 26 years and won two Latin Grammys as part of the band.

Solo Career
In September 2021, he announced his departure from Guaco to launch a solo career, closing that chapter with a tour in the U.S., followed by performances across Latin America and Europe.

As a soloist, he debuted in 2020 with the single Gota, followed by Déjame entrar, Libres, and the album Una misma historia (2021), featuring collaborations such as with Miguel Poveda on the song Mi dulce amor.

In February 2022, he released the viral single La Miraíta, which surpassed one million views on YouTube under the Cae Group label. His second album, 5:10am (2023), earned him a Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Tropical Album and another nomination in 2024.

His most recent work is the album Juguete Nuevo (June 2025), featuring 19 songs and collaborations with Dani Barón, Felipe Peláez, and Neguito Borjas. It was produced in several countries including Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Chile, the U.S., and Venezuela. He is set to release his next single Viejitas, a romantic salsa produced by Joann Morales and written by Noreh.

Musical Style and Influences
Luis Fernando blends genres such as salsa, ballad, pop, urban music, and tropical fusion with the traditional roots of Zulia gaita. His style is characterized by versatility, stage presence, and collaborations with internationally renowned artists like Gilberto Santa Rosa, Alejandro Sanz, Ilan Chester, Servando y Florentino, among others.
